As a settler living and working on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, and Attawandaron Peoples, within the area governed by the Upper Canada Treaties, I acknowledge the deep, intergenerational trauma caused by colonization and its ongoing impacts on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. In my work rooted in trauma-informed practice and community safety, I recognize that I benefit from colonial systems that continue to displace and harm Indigenous communities.
